OUR Mission

At Accudemics, we believe that analyzing and understanding the neural-behavior traits provide the individual with an awareness of self. This awareness of what truly motivates and inspires an individual, a graduate or professional, gives clear insight into which career path suits best. A career path aligned to how an individual will respond in certain scenarios or how they would feel about certain situations.

As a career coach your insights into their neural-pathways allows you to quickly hone in on the desired or limiting behaviors associated with specific careers and/or contextual environments related to these.

Sometimes job happiness is related to the career field. Sometimes it’s related to the work environment. Consider this: We have a person who loves to write. There are a number of career options open to this person who loves to write; Journalist and novelist are two options. The journalist needs to dig and find stories, conduct interviews, work under constant deadline pressure. The novelist needs to create stories, conduct research, and self-direct their work time.

AccuMatch Neural-Map

So, what’s the process?

Typically, people are matched to careers based on school marks, external influences such as parental pressure or media hype.

Didn’t Mad Men make advertising look like a fun career? At Accudemics, we believe grades don’t tell the entire story. Behavioural traits tell us much more about a person and what they require to have a rewarding work life.

Behavior versus personality

In the context of the workplace, behavior is the more important factor to understand. It is a reflection of past-programming and conditioning. It predicts how well an individual will perform within a certain role. It is the automatic responses, and actions that show up as behaviors, not personality, that determine how well someone will enjoy a work environment or task.

Someone who is an analytical thinker might make as fine a doctor as someone who is more intuitive. However, the analytical doctor may be less suited to the fast pace of an ER environment and may perform better diagnosis within a private practice.

Identifying the match to the right job can be the difference between a stressful environment and an enjoyable one. We look at behavioral traits associated with what an individual enjoys against what is required for a specific career or job.

Happy Student Say

S. Nunes

“John C. Maxwell once said that one of the greatest values of mentors is the ability to see ahead what others cannot see and to help them navigate a course to their destination.”  My life is living proof of how Roger’s presence has, in fact, led me to achieve what I thought was once impossible.

Katie

Hi Roger, just wanted to let you know I’m leaving in 5 days to go backpacking across Europe and I’ll start school at Olds College in September. Just wanted to thank you for giving me the last push of encouragement I needed to make the decision that will change my life forever. And you were right, my parents eventually did come around and are 100% behind me now.  Thank you so much for everything

The Accudemics process for graduates:

1. We ask. You answer.

There are two tests we’ll ask you to take. One is a multiple choice calledAM60. The second is a long answer called AMQ. Both are done online at your convenience. It takes about one hour to complete the assessment.

Our analyst assesses your answers and creates a report. Within two days of completing your online assessment, we’ll contact you to set up an appointment to meet with you to discuss the assessment report.

2. We’ll arrange a get-together to review the report.

This meeting can include parents but sometimes the family elects not to participate. We’ll review each of the traits measured and the strengths of each within you. There’s no right or wrong here…just levels of each trait. As we talk through the assessment report, we’ll want to know how you feel about the information…does it align with your understanding of self? Are you learning some new things about yourself?

3. We meet again and explore options.

Our next meeting is an opportunity for discussion. It’s now time to begin exploring what truly motivates you, what your goals are, where you see yourself in the near and far future. We said earlier on this page that the traditional way to counsel about careers is to match people to a career. Well, at Accudemics, the goal is to match a career to you. We’re here to discuss all your options and get you headed down a career path that fits the real you. We’ll help identify what’s going to motivate and inspire you.

The Science: Neural-Behavior Responses

Decades of research and recent digital technologies have made it possible for neuroscientists to identify over 200 different behavioral traits. At Accudemics, we focus on only the 50 behavioral traits most relevant to the workplace.

By identifying the strength of these traits within each individual, we are able to pinpoint innate behaviors. When we understand a person’s behaviors, we are able to precisely predict whether or not they’ll perform well in certain jobs and environments. Understanding behavioral traits is a key factor when considering future careers that will motivate and inspire success.

Behavior versus personality

In the context of the workplace, behavior is the more important factor to understand and predict how well an individual will perform within a certain role. It is actions or  behaviors, not personality, that determine how well someone will enjoy a work  environment or task. Someone who is an analytical thinker might make as fine a  doctor as someone who is more intuitive. However, the analytical doctor may be less suited to the fast pace of an ER environment and may perform better diagnosis  within a private practice.

The Assessment

The assessment is a two-part online questionnaire that takes about one hour. The first is multiple-choice and the second is long answer. The questionnaires explore actions and reactions to a variety of scenarios to identify individual behavioral traits within the following three areas:

Task response:
Reveals behaviors in response to particular tasks so that we may correlate these responses to those required in specific workplace roles.

Process response:
Reveals how information is received and processed as well as the emotional responses that result from different situations and stress levels.

Motivation response:
Reveals information related to the work environment and how it affects engagement levels, work quality levels and productivity.
